Wow, I have had an exciting week in clinicals. I just spent the entire day in the NICU at Fairoaks!! Awsome! I was "assigned" two babies and just was over joyed with taking care of them. One of them, my baby boy, was from the FIRST delivery I saw from this past monday!! I am happy to say that he is doing great and is becoming one healthy beautiful little boy. He should be going home this weekend!! I also got to go into 3 more deliveries today; two C-sections, and one vag. I didn't get to see a whole lot with the C-sections because I was with the "baby team" not the "mommie team" but I did get to take care of the babies and cut my first umbilical cord!!! The vag delivery I went to this evening, I got to do the entire inital assessment on (Apgar score, vitals, etc). These babies were so adorable. I got to feed and change a lot of dipers today. How amazing these little gifts from God are!!
Ok, on to the Nuns. Tomorrow is the first official day of "hell week" for the show. We begin running the show (lights, costumes and all) nightly until opening night (one week from tonight). Last night after rehersal, we decided to do a little bit of publicity, so in our habits (and characters) we went across the street to the local bar to open mic night. Sister Amnesia (myself) and Sister Mary Leo got up on the mic and sang an ol' hymnal song for the bar! It was great advertisment and practice in keeping our characters. Some of the patrons (non-locals) actually thought we were REAL NUNS!! LOL Well, I hope you all have a great week.

Wow. You've been a busy lady this week! :)
That's so cool that you got to work with the NICU babies. If I wasn't so squeamish about some stuff, I might have gone into pediatric / neonatal nursing -- but I taught the kids after they graduated from the NICU instead! :)
You would make such a great pediatric nurse -- is that what you're planning on doing? (I feel like I'm supposed to know this . . . )
No I don't plan on being a peds nurse. My love is still the ER. As much fun as I had this last week, I think I would get board. I can see myself going into NICU nursing once I get older and can't stand to do 12 hours shifts on my feet, running around. When I want to change into something a lot less stressful. But for now ER is the place!!
(so you thought you should know this, I feel like I should know which Katherine this is??)
